Down at the Depot

Down at the Depot

Flagging Harmon Street. The grassy patch to the right of the frame is the site of the SOU depot, where my grandad pulled relief duty briefly before working 10 years each in Ruth and Spindale. The house track is still there. A short spur pointing east diverged onto a coal unloading spot in the weeds to the left. Through the late '70's, this small yard was usually full of empty woodracks, boxcars, and chip hoppers for businesses around Ruth. MP 177 is 2 cars back (just left of the crossbucks).
